"Find meaning. Go out for a walk. It doesn’t have to be a walk during which you’ll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no one else ever managed to encounter. Find meaning or don’t find meaning but “steal” some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn’t make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be."
― Albert Camus, from Notebooks, 1951-1959
It's December. Hard to believe. It's a month I love dearly. There is nothing better than wrapping things up and thinking about the possibilities that await in the new year. Perhaps it is because I am born on the second to last day, but I have always craved change. Usher in the new.
I had a really good week off. We're now back at home, house torn apart sealing all the hardwood floors, reorganizing closets, and doing a major year end purge. It has been really nice to unplug, live locally-seeing only what is around me, and regroup. But this week is back to busy with a birthday party, cookie decorating party, hanukkah celebration, a classroom ceramics project, christmas card creation, and work. We are getting the tree tonight and I am going to try and steal some time everyday to sit back and hold on to a little bit of peace that is part of the season.
