Lifelists
I
love lists. Lists have been a part of me as long as I can
remember. As a teenager, my friends and I scribbled a lists
of silly things we did on my bedroom desk. On occasion, we
would run into the room giggling and slide the television
aside revealing our TOP SECRET LIST. Tucked away safely under
the television was the list of the boys that we wanted to
kiss. Rumor spread of its existence, but it remained well
hidden until the windex wiped it into memory before departing
for college.

places.

books I've read.

And then there was traveling India, a whole continent of lists.
1.) Living with an old woman in Calcutta and her 20-something
cats, all listed out for good measure.
2.) A list of the gurus/ashrams
I visited.
3.) An inventory
list of the contents of my 30 lb backpack that
I had lugged from the Himalayas in Nepal, on a motorcycle
through India to the beaches of Sri Lanka.
4.) A list of reasons why it was time for me to go home.
5.) A personality
purification list for getting to the authentic
me.
Most
important are the lists of things that I want to create in
my life. These lists have been essential to my life. These
lists are the way that I am able to focus my energy, hone
my skills, learn about myself and prioritize my interests.
In
going over my lifelist, I have noticed how many of the items
I have created. It is a confirmation in the power of we have
to create exactly what we want in life. The key is to really
get clear about what you want to create and why you want to
create it.
The items on my lifelist include both the ways I am interested
in living my life and the things that I would like to experience
along the way. My current lifelist was started in 2000 and
is still growing.
